We asked Bridgeliner member Meaghan Vehlies, about making friends in Portland
If you only have one meal left in Portland, where are you going?
Can you snag me a table at Langbaan? If not, Hat Yai or my new favorite, Eem. Clearly I’m an Earl Ninsom groupie. I dream about that curry on the regular.
What’s a local event you went to recently that you loved?
Last month I went to the Career Day event at Alder Elementary School that Bridgeliner had promoted. I’m a sign language interpreter, and I had a blast explaining to kindergarteners what I do and teaching them some simple signs. Little hands are the cutest!
Where in town might people run into you?
Anywhere there is good food, so the possibilities are endless! But Kasbah on Northwest Davis (for that mint tea and zaalouk dip), Teppanyaki Hut near Prost (those sushi burritos!!!), or Skidmore Bluffs (with a King Burrito in hand) are my regulars.
Where are you celebrating in your life?
I just paid off my student loans!
What made you decide to become a Bridgeliner member?
Becoming a member of Bridgeliner was a no-brainer. I’m constantly on the go, running around town, chasing down new experiences and fun. Bridgeliner has given me so many great events and things to do the past year — of course I’d become a member.
What’s something you’re working on that you could use help with?
I’m training to run a marathon! It’s been a dream of mine for a while, and I’ll finally be in the area long enough to see through a training plan. If anyone has tips, routes, or great playlists to run to, I would appreciate it. Or if you want a running buddy (I’m in NE, running a nine minute/mile pace), let me know!
