We’re rolling along with our member spotlight series, and this week we’re profiling downtown dweller Sandy Keiter!
Where in town might people run into you?
I hang out around Portland State and Lair Hill neighborhood, but I have roots and friends in Hillsdale. I also ride Portland buses, streetcars and light rail regularly.
What’s something you’re working on that you could use help with?
I’m a political junkie and am committed to helping elect more progressive candidates, especially nationally.
What made you decide to become a member of Bridgeliner?
I’m a longtime journalist and I like to support young people who believe in honest reporting.
What’s a recent story you’ve read about Portland that you wish more people cared about?
I see an inordinate amount of trash [downtown], which I find upsetting. I remember when Portland was a lot cleaner. My husband and I try to pick up trash whenever we’re out walking.
What are you celebrating in your life right now?
I’m 66 years old and I’m still active, engaged and have friends of all ages. I’m celebrating being alive!
