“I loved the Blazers and Timbers, but the logos weren’t ‘Portland’ enough for me,” Marcus said, “so I just came up with Portland Gear.”
He also created the @Portland Instagram handle, which now has over 335,000 followers. But his rapid success has brought on a struggle with anxiety, which he’s been discussing publicly this year during Mental Health Awareness Month.
Hear more about Marcus’s story in the video ☝️, and drop by Portland Gear’s HQ in Goose Hollow to meet him in person.
P.S. We were bummed to hear the news last week that Portland Gear is accused of cribbing a T-shirt design from artist Evan McCarthy (aka @evanempdx). It’s a bad situation, but a good reminder that awesome local artists deserve our support.
